What I’m Listening To: July
I love listening to music. I also enjoy hearing recommendations from my friends as they share their favorites. It’s been an enriching experience. In this new series, I will post my recommendations for music. I hope you enjoy!
I listen to all kinds of music. What I listen to depends upon my mood. Classical, rock, praise and worship, 80s, and so on. Let’s just say, I have over 5 GB of music on my iPhone alone. Here is a list of what I’ve been listening to lately:
Good News by Rend Collective: I’ve been a fan of Rend Collective for a few years now. Their songs consist of original praise and worship pieces. My favorite songs on this album are Yahweh, Nailed to the Cross and Resurrection Day. Actually I pretty much like the entire album.
Ledger by Ledger: Jen Ledger is the drummer for Skillet (another favorite band of mine) and now, in this break-out EP, she fronts her own band. Let’s just say this album gets played quite a bit when I’m driving around town. My favorite song is Not Dead Yet, though I like the others as well, as they are quite energetic.
Bach Trios by Yo-Yo Ma, Chris Thile, and Edgar Meyer: Bach is one of my top three composers (Beethoven and Mozart are the other two) and this album gives a unique take by using not only the cello and bass, but also the mandolin. This is one of those albums I listen to when I need to relax or when I’m writing and need beautiful background music without words.
I hope you enjoy these selections. I would love to hear what you are listening to. Please leave your suggestions in the Comments section below.
