What I’m Reading This Month

This month, I have the privilege to help launch the new book Relentless: The Unshakeable Presence of a God Who Never Leaves by Michele Cushatt.

Michele’s book delves into the Word of God to answer the one question most of us have when we navigate through difficult times: Where is God in my pain? She does not shy away from the question as she openly shares some of her most vulnerable moments during her darkest journey. Here is what she says about her book:

“To descend into the basement of my faith journey, and hopefully, discover evidence of God’s presence…To learn, once and for all, that God doesn’t condemn our questions, doubts, and despair but actually pushes further in, drawing closer still.” (page 16)

Michele Cushatt, Relentless: The Unshakeable Presence of God Who Never Leaves

Personally, I know what this looks like. In one of my darkest times in life, I too asked God where He was. Due to my anger towards Him, I believed I had built a brick wall between us. I realized later that He was never on the other side of the wall, but rather right there next to me, waiting for me. He never left my side.

Michele’s book reminded me of those moments and how deep my faith has grown since those times. I also realized how, though our journeys may be different, we all desire the same thing: not to feel abandoned. We are never abandoned by the LORD. He is with us and His love for us is relentless.

If you are going through a difficult journey now (or not) and need some encouragement, I recommend this book to you. Michele has journeyed through the difficult times. Her stories are real and vulnerable. Her words are encouraging and compassionate.
